The One With Mrs. Bing. In this episode Chandler’s mom comes to visit him and the rest of the gang, and she ends up kissing a drunk Ross. This causes much havoc within Chandler and his rocky relationship with his mom. Now even though this could definitely be enough to fill up a single episode, Phoebe and Monica also manage to cause a car accident, sending a guy they both think is cute into a coma.
A life lesson that can be taken from this episode is: there’s always time and opportunities for a relationship to be fixed. Chandler has always had mostly negative relationships with both his parents, but that doesn’t mean he has completely given up on them. Chandler has many personal issues, but his relationship with his parents and the fact that his father is a woman have had some of the biggest impacts on him as a person. Now, he could have just stopped trying to have relationships with them, but he didn’t because he understands that they are his parents, and no matter what there’s always the possibility of fixing what was previously broken. Specifically in this episode Chandler finally brings up the courage to confront his mother about everything she has done that has hurt him in the past, everything that has made their relationship the roller-coaster that it is. This proves to be a good experience for him, and it does strengthen the bond between them. Throughout the series Chandler is never really good at all the social stuff, but in this episode he proves that even though a relationship may be a tough one, don’t give up on it because there is always room for change and improvement.
